Sydney, May 14, 2018 – CBRE has appointed leading industry professional Michael Fenton to head its Australian Industrial & Logistics Capitals Markets practice and serve as co-senior Managing Director of the firm’s NSW business.
Mr Fenton brings over 24 years of experience in the real estate industry, including senior roles with Dexus, CBRE and JLL.
CBRE’s Pacific President & CEO, Ray Pittman, said the appointment highlighted CBRE’s focus on attracting high level talent, with a view to providing exceptional service and support to clients.
In tandem with Mr Fenton’s appointment, Chris O’Brien has been promoted to a role as Executive Director, Industrial & Logistics Capital Markets for Asia Pacific.
“There is a deep buyer pool for quality Australian industrial & logistics assets, which has underpinned considerable investment activity in the sector and driven yields to record lows,” Mr Pittman said.
“Michael and Chris will work closely together to leverage this strong, ongoing demand from both local and offshore investors, supporting our clients while further strengthening our market leading position in the Australian industrial & logistics sector.”
Mr Fenton is joining CBRE after more than nine years at JLL, where he held dual roles as Australian Head of Industrial and Managing Director, NSW.
Throughout his career, he has been involved in transactions totalling over $3bn, including the recent $1.073bn sale of the GIC Australian Logistics Portfolio to Ascendas Real Estate Investment Trust, the $253m sale of the Coles Chilled Distribution Centre at Eastern Creek to Mapletree Logistics and the $303m sale of the Equity Commonwealth Portfolio to Propertylink.
“This is a significant appointment for us given Michael’s strong track record, extensive client relationships and demonstrated leadership expertise,” Mr Pittman said.
“It gives us the opportunity, not only to strengthen our industrial & logistics platform, but also to provide further leadership support for our growing NSW business – ensuring our continued growth and success in this very important geography.”
As co-Senior Managing Director NSW, Mr Fenton will work alongside Cameron Grier and will have a specific focus on strategy and clients.
He will commence in both of his new CBRE leadership roles in August, based out of the firm’s Western Sydney and Sydney CBD offices.
